Private CCW Class For The NY 16+2 Requirement

What you get

  • 2 hours live-fire range qualification with the state-prescribed course of fire, scored to the CCIA standard.
  • DCJS-certified instructor signature on your completion certificate, accepted by the NYPD License Division.
  • Pre-class prep materials so you walk in already familiar with the topics.
  • Take-home reference covering NY law and sensitive locations you can refer back to.
  • Re-qualification support if you do not pass the range course of fire on the first attempt.

Who this is for

Anyone who needs to satisfy the NY Concealed Carry Improvement Act training requirement to apply for a CCW license. Background-wise, we serve absolute beginners and experienced shooters. The curriculum is the same. The teaching is not. We adjust how we run the room based on what is in it.

Class format

We run three formats. Two weekends (the most popular), four weeknights plus a weekend range day, or a compressed long-weekend version. You pick what fits your life.

What you need to bring

  • Government ID matching the name on your application.
  • Eye and ear protection (we have loaners if you do not own them yet).
  • A handgun if you have one. If not, we arrange a rental.
  • Notebook or laptop for the classroom block.

FAQ

Is this course DCJS certified?

Yes. Our instructors hold current DCJS certifications and the course meets the NY CCIA 16+2 hour requirement.

Can I take it before I file my application?

Yes. A lot of students do. The completion certificate has no hard expiration and submitting a file with the training already done is often cleaner.

Do you provide handguns and ammo?

We arrange rentals and supply ammunition for the qualification. If you have your own NY-approved handgun and want to use it, that is fine.

What if I fail the qualification?

You can retake it. Most students who do not pass the first time pass after a brief practice block. We do not leave anyone stuck.
